The W. D. Boyce Council is proud to launch the 100 Days to 100% Trained Challenge, a council-wide initiative designed to ensure every registered leader has the training needed to provide a safe, engaging, and high-quality Scouting experience.
From September 10 through December 19, 2026, units across the council are encouraged to achieve 100% trained status by completing all required leader training. This effort supports Scouting America’s national training theme, “Trained to Make a Difference,” which recognizes the lasting impact trained leaders have on the lives of Scouts.
As the home of William D. Boyce, the founder of Scouting in America, the W. D. Boyce Council has a unique opportunity to set the standard for Scouting excellence and lead the nation in leader training.
To be considered fully trained, registered leaders must complete:
- Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT)
- Hazardous Weather Training
- Position-Specific Training for each registered leadership position
The FAQs below provide answers to common questions about the challenge, training requirements, tracking progress, recognition, and available resources to help your unit achieve 100% trained status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will newly registered leaders affect my unit’s 100% trained status?
A: No. Leaders who register within 60 days of the December 19, 2026 deadline will not count against a unit’s training percentage for the purposes of this challenge. However, we encourage all new leaders to begin and complete their required training as soon as possible.
Q: What should I do with leaders who are no longer active?
A: Leaders who are no longer active with the unit should be opted out of renewing their membership and, when appropriate, moved to a Scouter Reserve position. Once properly updated, they will not count against the unit’s training percentage for the challenge.
Q: What if my unit does not have all required leadership positions filled?
A: Units must have all minimum required leadership positions filled to qualify for challenge incentives. Units that do not meet minimum leadership requirements by the challenge deadline will not be eligible for incentives.
Q: What if a leader’s training requirements include Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)?
A: Leaders who are required to complete Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) must either:
- Submit documentation showing they have already completed IOLS so their training record can be updated, or
- Be registered to attend an upcoming IOLS course.
For purposes of the 100 Days to 100% Trained Challenge, leaders who are registered for an upcoming IOLS course will be considered compliant with this requirement, providing flexibility for courses that may occur after the challenge deadline.
Q: When will challenge incentives be distributed?
A: Incentives will be available for distribution on or around December 28, 2026. Additional details regarding distribution will be provided as they become available.
