We’re excited to have you as a part of the Scouting family!

What is the BSA?

For more than a century, Scouting has stood for character and leadership – attributes that are forged through experiences in service, adventure and skill-building. Scouting teaches real-life skills. Helping young people become future leaders.

In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right-now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) makes it possible. Visit Scouting.org to learn more.

Contributing to our council create opportunities for the Scouts of today AND tomorrow to gain memorable experiences, instilling them with values, principles, and skills that will help them develop into the future leaders of our nation.

Help Scouts “Be Prepared. For Life.”

It’s our promise to families. It resides with every Scout who ever overcame one of life’s challenges. “Being prepared” is at the core of Scouting and inspires a lifetime of character, leadership and service. You can help Scouts achieve that!

Scout Shops

The Scout Shop is your official source for Scout uniforms, outdoor gear, uniforms, badges, craft items, and more.  Have a question related to program materials, official BSA gear, or uniforms? There’s a good chance you can find the answer out at the Scout Shop. And they even provide in-store sewing services for your patches and uniform insignia!

Our council is fortunate to have two Scout Shops, one at the Peoria Scout Service Center and one at the Bloomington Scout Service Center.

Youth Protection

The safety and protection of children is the most important priority of the Boy Scouts of America.

True youth protection can be achieved only through the focused commitment of everyone in Scouting. It is the mission of Youth Protection volunteers and professionals to work within the Boy Scouts of America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, regional, area, council, district, and unit levels.

Guide to Safe Scouting

All participants in official Scouting activities should become familiar with the Guide to Safe Scouting, applicable program literature or manuals, and be aware of state or local government regulations that supersede Boy Scouts of America practices, policies, and guidelines. The Guide to Safe Scouting is an overview of Scouting policies and procedures gleaned from a variety of sources. For some items, the policy statements are complete. Unit leaders are expected to review the additional reference material cited prior to conducting such activities.
