WE need you! Who are WE? “WE” are the Wilderness Engineers!
WE are a group of registered adult Scouters who make a hands-on difference for your youth at Ingersoll Scout Reservation. WE come from all parts of the Council, from every branch of the Scouting organization, and from all walks of life.
The Wilderness Engineers have a set schedule of workdays throughout the calendar year. Come join us for one!
“The efforts supplied by the Wilderness Engineers make a direct contribution to providing a quality camping experience for all of those attending ISR events.” |
WE activity is not limited to the scheduled work weekends, but those are an important part of our efforts. WE would like to see a group of people adopt a project from our list and schedule with Ranger Jason Biggs to get it done. If you have special talents and would like to head a crew on a project, WE would love to hear from you! WE have Troops with busses that bring out 20 adults on a weekend. Imagine the difference a crew like that can make in a single day.
Any weekend or weekday can be a WE workday(s). Simply call Ranger Biggs and let him know your availability. He will let you know what projects are pending and will welcome your assistance. At certain times of the year and most weekdays, overnight accommodations can be provided. Come on out and get that feeling of accomplishment, then enjoy the camp setting in the evening. There is nothing better than waking up at ISR in the morning!
Cub Scout Leaders, WE need you as well. You may never have been out to ISR, but if your son continues on into Boy Scouts, WE bet that you will! Hopefully, your pack will schedule an outing to Ingersoll soon. Wouldn’t it be nice to know you helped in getting the camp ready for when your son gets there? You also get the added benefit of getting to know adult leaders from the Boy Scout ranks that can give you pointers.
How Can I Help?
- Sign up for an upcoming ISR Wilderness Engineers Work Day!
- Complete and return this Wilderness Engineer volunteer form.
- Contact ISR Ranger Jason Biggs for more information:
- (309) 338- 4613
- jason.biggs@scouting.org
Note: Some of our members attend every work session while some can only make one or two workdays each year. All are busy with other events in their personal lives and Scouting careers, yet the time they can spend to make that difference at ISR pays huge dividends. If you can spend just one weekend helping out, or can contribute in another way, WE will welcome you with open arms!
